Ah yes Merry Christmas to us

The bonus has come at last

Yet it's not for this reason

That we all love this season

But because Christ for us is born today

To take and wash all our sins away

A baby is Saviour Redeemer

A great High Priest and forever

Amidst gifts exchange and good cheer

If you died today, what would your last words be?

I know the title is a little morbid. But I managed to get something off from Shaw Wooten's blog recently.

He was basically calling us to take our discipleship higher. Thanks to google translator, I could make out what he wanted to say.

So what would your last words be? That tot lingered in my head. I was thinking along the line of "Lord, receive me", "Lord, forgive me", etc...........

But I can't help but to sing to the tune in my head, "I'm coming up Lord! I'm coming up soon!"

Well, I really don't know what I would say......... Probably need time to think and ponder about this.

Another thing he mentioned was, what would others say in the eulogy? Would it be, "Oh I knew Alex. Fun guy who loves Movies. His favourite movie was Star Wars........... etc...." Would you think that the info shared in the eulogy would be sad or happy if someone said that?

To me I would be sad. Not that I don't appreciate the person for knowing my favourite movie or basketball team. But its sad to me that probably I did not make use of the time to share deeper tots or insights with this person. I hope I won't fall into that category in the future. I'll be depressed man....... LOL!

I always remembered Shawn sharing with us the true story about this brother in Ukraine who went back to him hometown to start a church. But soon passed away leaving behind his wife and kid. But within that short few months he impacted so many people. The brother who did the eulogy asked people to put up their hands if they were brought to church by the deceased brother, and the a number of hands came up. Then leaving the hands up, he asked again who were impacted by the people whose hands are already, again more hands rose, and it went on..... By the end of the 10mins almost a full room of hands were up. That one small decision made by the brother to reach out to impact people around him had spread like wildfire amongst that small community. Truly impacting the lives of many and making his life a beautiful poetry.

Hope this short lunch sharing managed to inspire some of us. It surely did inspire me. =)

A new week

These days, the week just seem to pass faster and faster...... I can't believe, its gonna be the "Merry Xmas and Happy New Year" greetings already!!!!

Anyway I hope this week will be a great one!

WOAH!!!!!! Last entry was Nov 2008!?!?! Its been a year already! SOOOOOOO many things have happened.

In summary:

For Job: Training Job didn't work out. So went on to temp as a HR Assistant at Changi General Hospital, worked from Dec 08 - May 09. Temp contract ended, went on another Temp assignment with HSA as a HR Temp, was there for 3 weeks, then CGH called me back and offered me a 3-Year Perm contract as an Executive, Medical Board. Started in July 09 till present! All going great!

For Spiritual Life: Well, definitely had its fair share of Ups and Downs! But more ups if I really look at it. Led a group of my own, but guess God has other plans so now I'm only leading a small group. Still serving in the band! And I have crossed my 8th year mark as a Disciple since Sept 09!!!!! Praise God for that!

For Dating Life: Well, I am still single! BUT!!!!! I have an awesome girlfriend now! We got together on 23rd May 09! And things have been going great! Of course had a few fights here and there but all is past and resolved! Its about working things out and moving forward together! God is in the driver's seat! =)

Health: Hmm....... This one not too good. Recently my knee has been giving me alot of problems. Went for an extensive physiotherapy session. It helped abit but it was just too costly to follow up with. So was only on it for bout 8 - 10 weeks. Hope nothing bad happens, if it does I'm just going to the hospital and get an MRI scan just to see what is happening inside there. Pray nothing serious!

Friends: Wow, all I can say is I built quite a few awesome friendship with several people! Thank God for that! Be it in Church, Office or anywhere else! Its just great to have friends involved in my life and to hang out with! =D

Studies: Like in my previous posts, my studies officially ended around Oct 08. My results came out in Feb 09 and I attained a 2nd Class Upper Honours in Business Administration Specializing in Human Resource Management from Coventry University!!!!! My graduation ceremony was in Apr 09! Am glad that I upgraded myself and had a taste of achievement in terms of academics! WOOHOO!!!!!

Hmm hope this sort of summarizes my 1 year of absence! Feel free to ask me more! =)

Looking for Job

Pls be praying for me to get a job ASAP.

So far I've been diligently sending out Resumes and so far only 2 companies have replied.

Moreover, also need to go back to reservist this coming Wednesday. Hope my superior is nice enough to allow me some time off when needed to go for interviews.

Heroes Season 3 is Out!!!!

Yup! The title says it all! ITS OUT!!!!!!! And with a bang too! It premiered in the US with 2 hours, YES! 2 EPISODES BACK TO BACK!!!!! And they were both amazing!!!!!!!! Love the whole new plot and the intensity....... Go watch it if u can!

Must Finish My Project!!!

Hmm....... Been procrastinating on finishing my project...... Oh well, need to finish it fast and move on with life!!!!

Pray that I can finish it fast!

God Answered Prayer

Yup! God answered my prayer! I got a job as a Trainer. I will be starting work next week on 24th Sept! Really excited bout it as I will be teaching people the programs which I will be developing! For starters, I will be teaching people how to be better telemarketers!

7 years and coutning!

Wow! Today I celebrate my 7th year as a disciple! Am grateful to God for all he has done for me! And I know there are more great things ahead! So here's a short poem dedicated to my 7 years of being a disciple!

"Seven years have gone past,
Seven seemed so oddly fast,
Seven never did I expect,
Seven the number I will never forget,
Seven days there are a week,
Seven more as we speak,
Seven seems so perfect to me,

Journey's New Album!

Yes its out!! Finally! And I have to say, it sounds good! A good mix of new songs and old songs! Arnel who hails from the Philippines did pretty ok in this album. If u guys didn't know yet, Arnel was recruited by Journey thru YouTube when he was playing with the band Zoo.

It took Journey weeks to convince that it wasn't a hoax! Ha ha ha..... If it were me, I would be skeptical too!

Anyway, one thing I can learn from this story is that in today's world, I guess people really trust each other anymore! Which is why I totally appreciated Vincent's sermon yesterday! Imagine what Radical Love can do to help this lost world. Its tough but if we just make the decision to imitate the radical love Jesus mentioned, it can go a really long way! Just a thought I wanna share. Hope it helps!

The Insignificant

I remember recently there was a sermon about being insignificant in the church and coincidentally I was introduced to watch this man, Paul Potts. He was a contestant on Britain's Got Talent 2007. Paul was an ordinary man working as a mobile phone sales assistant and was encouraged by his wife to take part in the competition as she thought his voice was awesome. Paul shared in one of the videos, he was insignificant, he was bullied in school last time, but one thing that he could fall back on was his voice! I was sooooo inspired by this guy's journey to success. Later Paul won the competition hands down and he went on to perform in front of the Queen, he appeared on Oprah, his debut album sold 2 million copies around the world and now he has consistent sell out shows in Las Vegas. Below are the videos of this insignificant one's journey to stardom. Just because he made a decision to come out of his comfort zone! Enjoy the vids and be inspired by this amazing man's voice!

One World, One Dream!

As I have been following some of the sport events happening these past few days, and yes I've seen some exciting ones!

It was only during the Singapore vs South Korea Women's Team Table Tennis Semi Final, which Singapore went on to win, that I noticed the billboards around the arena. The motto for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, "One World, One Dream"!

Well as I think about it, we as disciples also share 1 dream too! To make disciples of all nations! Here are just a few questions that may help us think deeper:

1. What's your motto as a Disciple?
2. What's the purpose of it all?
3. How am I going to achieve that dream?

Well, as we know all the athletes would reap riches in monetary form when they achieve a medal in such a huge event like the Olympics. Do we look and envy? Well, being human I do look in envy most of the times and that is something I should repent of. In fact we are already winners in God's eyes no matter what happens, of course that doesn't mean we have license to sin. We still have to finish the race strong!

Knocking On Heaven's Door

As the title says it. Was listening to one of my favourite bands and that being Guns N' Roses!

This occurred to me while listening to the song. What does it mean to knock on heaven's door?

I mean I can sort of imagine the majestic view of walking up this long flight of marble pearl white stairs and at the top sits a 2 sided door (Those you find in castles) so big and made up of the finest pine wood with the scent still fresh from the pine trees God created.

On the door there're 2 gigantic handles protruding out made out of metal unfounded by man as it sparkles along with the glistening majestic aura emitting out from behind those tiny gaps in between. Also next to the handles are door knockers.

Well imagine we get a chance to look at this scenario I painted out. These were the questions I will ask myself....

1. Should I knock?
2. Should I take a peek?
3. Should I just wait for someone to take notice of my presence?

Well....... What you guys do?

Somehow, these questions do mean differently in the way you answer them. I can sort of remember a scene from the movie Kungfu Panda, where Po was to pull his noodle cart up to the top of the temple where they were going to announce the new Dragon Warrior.

When going up the stairs, you're to leave everything behind, no regrets, nothing to hold you back so that you can climb the stairs.

When you get up top, the excitement in you should be beyond words! The part where Po was trying all ways to get into the temple was hilarious! Then again, how bout us as disciples then? Would we do everything in our power to get into those doors? Wouldn't we be knocking on the door all the way?

Then is it wrong to peek out of curiosity? Hmm..... Well in the modern world it is a crime! HAHAHA...... But I guess God has already let us peek into Heaven thru many ways. How he blesses us in our daily lives are probably little instances of what Heaven would be like behind those doors. No disappointments, no discouragements, all in all, basically God will always be there to back us up!

What about those who will just stand outside and wait? What do you think? Well, to me those who wait will miss out the chance. Sounds harsh but were there instances in your life where you just stood outside the door of your friend's house and not even ring the bell or knock? Did the door open? Did anyone from the house notice you? I think besides the neighbours seeing strange person and calling the security guard or the police, I doubt anyone form the house will ever notice you! So its important that we do the small things! Like the sermon on Sunday, never think that you're insignificant but do the small things for the impact will cause a ripple effect!

Just some random thoughts while de-stressing from doing my project. Hope it helps and feel free to just shout out your opinion in the shoutbox! =)

A Proper Diagnosis

Hey all! Well, its been a week since I had the pain in my foot and the Doctor diagnosed it as Planter Fasciitis....... Guess what? I went to see an Orthotics Specialist, Mr Peter Cave. Go check out his website, www.instepfootcare.com. After the foot scan he performed on me, and after my own research of Plantar Fasciitis, we both can confirm that the pain I felt in my foot was not from Plantar Fasciitis! Instead, I'm having Morton's Neuromena!

Okay so what is that? Basically my left foot is sort of flat footed therefore causing my 3rd and 4th toe to clamp against a nerve causing it to swell! Therefore the sharp pain! The picture on the right shows it clearly.

So what's the remedy? Well I bought a pair of Orthotics Insoles to help puch my arch back into place and will be wearing it for the rest of my life I guess. You won't believe how important our feet are! Its the most over used part of the body and its the very foundation of the body! (Literary speaking lah!)

Anyway, what I learnt from Mr Cave is that many people who suffer from back aches, neck aches and even migranes could be due to the fact that their feet are the cause! Its very interesting indeed! Because of the way our body is distributed, the slightest shifts of imbalance can cause the spine to form towards the direction we're depending our weigt one. Meaning, if your center of gravity is towards more of the right foot, your spine would travel from top of the head and down toward the right foot! Thus causing stress to the spine which leads to back aches! I know its amazing! HAHAHA........

So try going for a foot scan and learn something bout your body! AND GO CHECK OUT THE WEBSITE!!!! Its very very very interesting!!!!!

Plantar Fasciitis

I know its a mouthful to pronounce. Its pronounced as Plant-Tar Fes-Cee-Eye-Tis.

Bascially its the swelling of the ligaments in the foot. It usually happens to people who are flat footed and also because of the body weight.

And yes I have it now! Haiz...... Found out bout it on Monday and boy, it wasn't really a pleasant feeling. I initially thought that the operation I had last time to graft the ligament from my toe had snapped.......... YES! That's how I can describe the pain. I literally couldn't set any weight onto my foot.

Well, its been several days now and the pain has subsided substantially! Thank God! What does this mean? A whole new diet and weight loss plan. Gonna totally go on a no rice, noodle and carbo diet. If I'm hungry, I'll just have to eat wholemeal bread or wraps with loads of vege and probably lean meat. Need to totally cut down on lots of things! Need the discipline and prayer to do so!
